Basements usually wear many hats - overflow storage, holiday decorations, an extra play and lounge space. When the lines begin to blur between spaces, it can easily become overwhelming.
For this project, our goal was to categorize and delineate the spaces. Big changes to the space included storing the client’s fabulous costume collection in a much more fun and functional way, upgrading the holiday under stair storage, and adding a dedicated art storage area for the overflow of craft supplies and games that are housed upstairs. We wanted to keep costs low, so we kept purchases to a minimum and made use of what the homeowner had on hand whenever possible.

Unused product back stock was taking up precious space on shelving but wasn't frequently brought into rotation upstairs.

Holiday storage can sometimes develop a mind of its own! We went through each of these boxes to relocate items, purge broken items, and consolidate where needed.

A broken christmas tree box was keeping the entire under stair storage area blocked and making it impossible to store the tree in an effective way.

This client has an extensive and fabulous collection of costumes! It was time to get them out of boxes and onto a clothing rack!

Lots of overflow arts and crafts and games had migrated down here from the main living area. They needed their own permanent basement home.

With a little rearranging and the addition of this adorable pink and white cart, the games and crafts are now right at home.

This little cart provided the perfect amount of drawer and shelf space for all the fun projects and craft supplies.

The tried and true process worked wonders to improve the function of this shelving unit - remove everything, categorize, contain and label.

Labels are key, especially when storing items that are taken out and put away once a year. It will help the client keep the space organized again after the holiday season.

The addition of adhesive puck lighting and a brand new Christmas tree bag opened up this under stair storage space that is perfect for all the large Christmas decor.

Now all the costumes and accessories are easy to access and fun to look at!

A quick re-org of the toys into these wonderful bins the client already owned was an easy step to refresh this corner of the basement.

Now this space is clear for when the bounce house needs to be blown up for some much needed fun!

Party and wrapping supplies were relocated here.

The client has a few longterm projects they want to work on, so we dedicated part of this shelving unit to keeping those top of mind instead of buried in boxes to be forgotten.
